About EngineeringUK

We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to promote the vital contribution that engineers, and engineering and technology, make to our society. We also aim to inspire people at all levels to pursue careers in engineering and technology.
Previously known as the Engineering and Technology Board (ETB), we work with partners across business and industry, education and skills, the professional engineering institutions, the Engineering Council and the wider science and engineering communities.
Our goals are to improve the perception of engineers, engineering and technology and to improve the supply of engineers and place communication at the heart of everything we do. Through our programmes we engage with young people, and with those who influence them, increase awareness of the wide variety of engineering careers on offer and the benefits and rewards they can bring. Whether it’s through The Big Bang, Tomorrow’s Engineers or the Communications Hub, we aspire to communicate accurate and engaging information about engineering to as many young people as possible across the gender divide, covering all social groups and cultural backgrounds.
We feel that engineering, now more than ever, is critically important not just to the UK, but to the wider world. Whether it’s climate change, sustainable energy or healthcare – not to mention the fun things like computer games, music technology or sports equipment - engineering can make it better. We also believe that it provides one of the most satisfying and rewarding careers possible.
