EngineeringUK announces new board members

EngineeringUK welcomes 2 new members to the Board of Trustees this month. David Loosley, Chief Executive of Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) and CIWEM CEO Terry Fuller join the EngineeringUK board this month as Libby Meyrick, Institution of Engineering Designers CEO, ends her term of six years.

Commenting on the appointments, Chairman Malcolm Brinded said:
“The professional engineering institutions play an important role in shaping and supporting the vital work of EngineeringUK. I would like to thank Libby for her contribution and insight and welcome the new appointees from The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. Both David and Terry bring with them a wealth of experience and share our ambition and determination to attract more of the UK’s diverse young talent into engineering.”

Terry Fuller, Chief Executive of CIWEM, has nearly 30 years’ experience as a river and coastal flood risk manager having delivered major projects across the globe. Terry Fuller said:
 “I am delighted to join the Board of EngineeringUK at a time when the engineering profession in the UK is facing so many opportunities. My particular passions are to inspire young people to become engineers and to make our profession attractive and accessible to all, giving us the diverse thinking that will solve the major challenges that we face.”

IMarEST Chief Exec David Loosley, who was recently appointed by the Secretary of State for Transport to the Maritime 2050 Experts Panel, said:
“I am delighted to have been asked to join EngineeringUK as a trustee and look forward to bringing a marine engineering perspective to the vital mission of inspiring the next generation of engineers. As an Institute, we are doing a great deal of work to engage young people in all aspects of STEM and I hope that together, we can make real progress in shifting the country’s perception of engineering and show it to be the exciting, creative and hugely important career it really is.”
