Five priorities for the next government

May 11, 2017

The engineering community has come together once again as Engineering the Future to produce a manifesto of five key priorities that we believe the next government, whatever its political persuasion, should address.

  1. Define and clearly articulate a bold, global and ambitious vision for the UK
  1. Focus the education and skills system on fully unlocking UK talent and potential
  1. Support innovation
  1. The benefits of engineering, in terms of economic growth and social advancement must be spread across the UK
  1. Prioritise world class supporting infrastructure

Engineering underpins every aspect of society and is central to the UK’s economic prosperity. Following the general election on 8 June we will continue to collaborate as a sector to ensure that government share our priorities - producing reports, campaigning and feeding intelligence into emerging government policy.
