Dragonfly activity

The engineering industry will need 587,000 new workers by 2017, yet research tells us that attracting this number of young people is going to be a challenge. Only one in five people surveyed for EngineeringUK’s 2010 Brand Monitor said that they know what an engineer does; most see engineering as less well paid than other professions, and six out of ten either believe there is no engineering development in the last 50 years that has impacted on their lives or simply cannot think of one.

To solve this problem and ensure that young people consider engineering as a career, the engineering community needs to make a concerted effort to engage young people through a targeted ongoing programme – that is what Tomorrow’s Engineers is all about.

Tomorrow’s Engineers’ mission is to create sustainable long term involvement with communities, schools and colleges in order to increase the uptake of engineering as a career. Already engaging more than 35,000 students in over 1,000 schools across the UK each year, Tomorrow’s Engineers brings engineering into the classroom, enabling young people to experience for themselves the possibilities that engineering has to offer.

To achieve our target of engaging over 100,000 students within five years we need your help! Engineering is vital to our future. So if your organisation would like to be involved in this challenge, please get in touch and discuss how we can help inspire tomorrow’s engineers.
