Parents Perceptions of SET Based Careers
For many years now, there has been a long-term decline in the numbers of young people choosing to study SET at both school and in higher education.
This has led to severe shortages of skilled staff in SET occupations. Furthermore, there has been a growing concern about the quality of people choosing to study SET, and therefore ultimately to be available to the UK workforce.
This research has been commissioned to look specifically at the role of parents of children in Year 9 and Year 11 in influencing their child’s decisions about their selection of subjects at school and their child’s career choice.
