EngineeringUK’s Strategy puts the learner at its heart in order to deliver our strategic aims of improving the perception and supply of engineers. Our Education and Skills Strategy supports these aims through the provision of information, advice and unique evidence in support of EngineeringUK’s two core programmes - The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Fair and Tomorrow’s Engineers – as well as helping establish EngineeringUK’s thought leadership and credibility in these delivery areas.

We work with other organisations from across the community to ensure an authoritative and objective engineering education and skills influencing voice.

The education and skills agenda is multi-faceted and is influenced by many seemingly disparate issues which to various extents affect the overall ability of society to produce the future skilled work force of the future i.e. no single intervention will work on its own. Most people agree that education and skills play a fundamental strategic role in helping the UK to deliver a knowledge based economy. Taking this on board, we have established the Education & Skills Panel to help us achieve our goals in the education and skills arena.

Scope

Our education and skills delivery varies from influencing government departments on issues of strategic importance which affect our purpose and strategic goals based upon our unique evidence base; to influencing through third party committees and boards such as Education 4 Engineering (E4E) and the National Committee 14-19 for engineering education. Additionally, we offer endorsement and advice on key education, skills and careers issues (via the Careers Advisory Panel chair) and via our established Education & Skills Panel. In parallel, our education, skills and research expert knowledge and advice provide robust underpinning of EngineeringUK programmes and allied joint partner initiatives.
