Which areas will you be focusing recruitment on over the next five years?

Design engineering, manufacturing/mechanical/electrical engineering, product engineering, shop operations, manufacturing support, product development along with a number of commercial areas. This is to cover our business growth plans and the natural effects of staff turnover.

We will continue to respond to the business needs and requirements and in particular for graduate and placement hires. We will build further links with university careers services and students. We will also work with schools to promote the opportunities available to those studying STEM subjects.

How has EngineeringUK helped your understanding of the education and skills agenda in the UK?

Working with EngineeringUK keeps us linked into the current status of the education and skills agenda through the network of industrial and academic contacts. The annual review provides the data to help us understand the current situation in the industry within the UK but within a global context. This then assists us to direct our corporate strategies regarding recruitment and training.

It has helped us to develop our talent development stream, from schools, through universities and into the company. It also helps with definition of future directions, for example, considering how UTCs and Advanced Apprenticeships may be incorporated into our approach.
