E.ON is one of the world's largest investor-owned power and gas companies, with annual sales of just under €87 billion and about 93,500 employees. In the UK we are one of the leading power and gas companies - generating electricity and retailing power and gas. Our strategic aim is to deliver cleaner and better energy by offering innovative energy services and technologies tailored to meet our customers' needs and help people across the UK become energy fit.

Which areas will you be focusing your recruitment on over the next five years?

We will focus on recruiting power generation apprentices onto our existing accredited programmes and new, higher-level apprenticeship programmes, with a multi-skilled ethos to their training so they have the ability to handle complex tasks at site.

We will see growth in the recruitment of raw talent and experienced engineers into our climate and renewables business and this will be replicated internationally to match the growing demands of our emerging markets.

We will continue to develop apprenticeships and recruit apprentices in our sustainable energy areas, particularly around downstream and micro-generation projects.

The recruitment of graduates onto our engineering schemes is crucial in order to shape and develop raw engineering talent into the leaders of the future.

How has EngineeringUK helped your understanding of the education and skills agenda in the UK?

We see EngineeringUK setting the foundations for our future engineering need. We actively support your programmes because we can see the long term benefit for the future of engineering skills.

The Big Bang Fair and the Tomorrow’s Engineers programme are excellent school and educational programmes driving forward the STEM agenda and bringing home the reality of how exciting today’s engineering can be.
