Inspiring futures together
Founded as the Engineering and Technology Board in November 2001, we set out to encourage more young people into engineering and technology. And to improve understanding of its importance and value.
Today, as EngineeringUK, we’re still committed to inspiring the next generation and growing the diverse engineering and technology workforce the UK needs to thrive.
Our 25th anniversary is a chance to celebrate how far we’ve come and the people and partnerships that have made it possible. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story so far, we look forward to continuing to inspire futures together.

Growth in STEM since 2001
As we mark 25 years of promoting engineering and technology, we're sharing new analysis showing the growth in the uptake of STEM subjects since 2001. STEM education has changed over the past quarter of a century. STEM subjects now account for 45% of all A level entries, up from 33% in 2001. While the percentage of engineering and technology undergraduate degree entries has grown from 11.6% to 13.3% over the period.
While there is much to celebrate, our analysis highlights that further progress is still needed. This is particularly true in respect of girls and young women on STEM pathways and women in the engineering and technology workforce.
3 million young people inspired
Since our first outreach pilot in 2009, we've reached almost 3 million young people with activities and resources. Over our 25 years we've worked in partnership with more than 1,000 organisations and published 150 pieces of research.
