What I Do

I lead the Communications directorate, which covers all aspects of communications development and delivery for EngineeringUK corporately and for our programmes; the research & evaluation activity that helps build the evidence base for our own and others’ work; our policy & public affairs activity through which we advocate to ensure young people have the opportunities they need to progress into engineering and tech; our careers activities that provide clear information on the breadth of engineering and tech careers and the variety of routes into them; and the Big Bang programme through which we work with partners to excite young people about the possibilities available in STEM and connect them with inspiring role models. As a member of the exec team, I also contribute to wider organisational development and work with the Board of Trustees to support decision making across the organisation as a whole.

Impactful STEM outreach, inspiring the next generation, STEM careers provision, resources for schools, policy, research and evaluation, collaboration, Tomorrow’s Engineers, The Tomorrow's Engineers Code, Big Bang.

Bio & Background

I joined EngineeringUK in 2010 from London Metropolitan University where I had responsibility for all aspects of marketing, communications and fundraising. I spent the first part of my career at BT, initially in a range of procurement roles there before moving into marketing and communications, working with a wide range of Government customers during which time I also spent a period on secondment at the Department of Health. Following that, as the first Director of Membership and Communications at the College of Optometrists, I promoted the importance of maintaining good eye health and raised the profile of the role of optometrists in delivering eye health care via a series of award-winning campaigns.
