1. Press Officer (Part Time)

EngineeringUK is expanding its Communications team to drive the delivery of a new strategy to support our ambition to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and increase the talent pipeline into engineering. This is an exciting time for EngineeringUK and we’re looking for experienced, resourceful marcomms professionals to join us as we develop our brands, programmes and partnerships. If you think your skills and experience are right for the Press Officer role (0.5FTE), we’d love to hear from you.

The Press Officer will deliver a pro-active, high impact and responsive press office, successfully securing coverage and raising the profile of EngineeringUK and its programmes and products. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will work with internal and external/agency colleagues to identify ways to maximise media coverage and other profile-raising opportunities and reinforce clear, consistent messaging. You will play a key role in delivering one of the core pillars of the 2018-23 strategy: establishing EngineeringUK as a recognised, trusted voice and thought leader by government, employers and professional institutions, on the engineering labour market, talent pipeline, and best approaches to engage young people.

Key activities:

  • Developing an understanding of and expertise in EngineeringUK programmes and identifying proactive and reactive opportunities to share stories about who we are, what we do and why
  • Securing media coverage across all target media
  • Writing press releases, reactive statements, news articles and editorial copy
  • Supporting agency delivery of national PR campaigns - The Big Bang Fair and Tomorrow’s Engineers Week
  • Identifying opportunities and responding to media enquiries
  • Developing relationships with trade and vertical media
  • Supporting message development and delivery tools
  • Briefing and mobilising spokespeople
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting media coverage

2. Policy and Voice Manager (Part Time)

Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs and the Senior Research Analyst, you will work to raise the profile of EngineeringUK with politicians, policy-makers and other political stakeholders, and ensure that EngineeringUK’s research is complemented by and used to inform the external policy environment.

3. Research Officer

Reporting to the Research and Impact Manager, you will support the delivery of our research into key issues for the engineering and educational sector, such as the STEM skills shortage or gender underrepresentation within the engineering profession. You will also work on activities to evaluate EngineeringUK’s own programmes.

4. Employer Support Manager - Eastern Region - Full Time

Closing date: Jun 11, 2018

Salary: c. £35,000, dependent on experience

The Employer Support Manager will be the face/representative of EngineeringUK in the Eastern Region of England. The role of the Employer Support Manager is to increase EngineeringUK’s membership to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and increase the talent pipeline locally. Working with employers already committed to school engagement activities, who are already working with 5 + schools (or have the capacity to do so), through a step by step programme that will enhance their existing activities and further increase their reach, helping to improve their return on investment by enhancing the impact of their activities. This will be done through the use of best practice guides, knowledge sharing and evaluation tools. Working collaboratively with the STEM community, Local Enterprise Partnerships, Career & Enterprise programme and other active organisations, to facilitate school relationships. In their first year, the ESM will aim to build a paying membership network of at least 25 medium to large employers who actively and regularly engage with schools.

After engaging the medium and large Employers, the ESM will target smaller active employers, via hubs, to increase the scope and scale of the programme. Where possible linking employers with each other so that, centres of activity and employer communities are formed.
