About The Code

The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code unites more than 300 organisations of all types, shapes and sizes with a shared goal: to increase the diversity and number of young people entering engineering and technology careers.

By committing to The Code, large and small businesses, educational institutions, non-profits and government bodies join a powerful community. A community dedicated to STEM outreach that equips young people for future careers in engineering and technology.

The Code provides a framework for effective outreach in the shape of 4 pledges, supporting the community to work together towards a stronger, more inclusive workforce.

So whether you’re new to outreach or have experience, The Code helps members maximise their impact through shared knowledge, resources, and events.

What are the benefits of joining the community?

As a member of the Code community, you’ll enjoy:

  • A programme of exclusive webinars and drop-in sessions as well as Tomorrow’s Engineers Live, our annual sharing and networking conference
  • Free resources to help you set up or improve your outreach, guided by the 4 pledges
  • Membership of a closed LinkedIn group to connect, learn and share
  • Code Connect, our unique platform to collaborate with other Signatories and Supporters.

About the 4 pledges

The Code’s pledges form a framework to drive a set of values and behaviours. How organisations deliver against these pledges is flexible so Signatories can tailor their ambitions relevant to their strengths and challenges.

Become a Code Signatory

Signatories are on the front line of designing and delivering STEM outreach activities. Becoming a Code Signatory means committing to the 4 pledges, working collectively to inspire a more diverse and inclusive generation of engineers. As a Signatory, we ask you to:

  • Actively engage with the Code community, attending events and collaborate with other members
  • Advocate for The Code within your networks, encouraging others to join
  • Track your progress in meeting the 4 pledges and participate in an annual check-in.

Joining The Code is free, but your commitment to the pledges will support a united effort in promoting engineering to young people.

Become a Code Supporter

Organisations that align with The Code’s mission might not deliver engineering outreach directly but they can still make an impact by joining as a Code Supporter.
Supporters help raise awareness of The Code and encourage others to join, promoting a diverse and dynamic STEM community. Becoming a Supporter is a valuable way to contribute to the engineering sector’s growth and diversity, helping to shape a future-ready workforce.

Tomorrow's Engineers Live

Our event for anyone delivering engineering and technology outreach returned in February.

Thanks to feedback from more than 100 delegates who attended in 2024, 2025's conference had even more interaction, collaboration and discussion to support you. Themes included: youth engagement, gender, skills of the future and ethics. Speakers joined us from Skills England, WSP, AtkinsRealis, Thales as well as from across the Code community.
