Big Bang

We want to inspire and encourage all young people to discover exciting possibilities in STEM. The Big Bang mission is to showcase surprising possibilities and connect young people to inspiring role models in STEM.

The Big Bang Fair

The Big Bang Fair, the UK's biggest STEM event for young people, is returning to the NEC, Birmingham on 21 to 23 June 2023. Over the 3 days, school groups will get the opportunity to hear first-hand from exciting scientists and engineers and connect with inspiring career role models.

Families, community groups and home educators are also invited to discover more about careers in STEM at The Big Bang Fair Unlocked, running from 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday 21 June.

Big Bang Digital

Big Bang Digital came back for a third exciting year, 22 to 24 June 2022. Schools were invited to join online to inspire students to change the world with STEM and discover amazing possibilities and careers of the future. Big Bang Digital 2022 will feature d6 fascinating STEM panels streamed live from The Big Bang Fair (2 each day). Content remains available to view on-demand.

Big Bang Digital returned in 2021, even bigger and better focusing on how we can build a brighter and greener future using science, technology, engineering and maths – a future that will be in the hands of the brilliant young people who are studying the subjects right now. It was upscaled from its original day long format into 3 brilliant days of fun interactive sessions.

In 2020 we delivered Big Bang Digital 2020 – science, engineering & Covid-19 celebrating the amazing work of scientists and engineers in a pandemic, giving an inspirational and uplifting look at the essential role of science and engineering in a pandemic.

The Big Bang Competition

The Big Bang Competition recognises and rewards young people’s science and engineering project work and identifies the UK Young Engineer and UK Young Scientist of the Year.

From a low-cost, flat-pack 3D printer; an app that helps people escape safely from fires to an investigation into new ways of separating ‘Mirror Image Molecules’, the science and engineering work carried out by these young people is quite simply awe-inspiring.

Previous winners have gone on to represent the UK in international competitions, to study STEM at the highest levels, to work in some of our biggest engineering companies and to set up their own businesses.
