Educational pathways into engineering

The future engineering workforce will draw on young people in STEM education and training. Our research covers primary, secondary education, further education and apprenticeships and higher education, highlighting the educational pathways into a career in engineering for young people in the UK.

We examine the successes and the gaps as well as considering how to address skills shortages and increase STEM engagement with young people. We look at the pathways for young people and educational outcomes in schools and colleges across the UK.

We also look at the options post-18, both vocationally and in higher education. Perceptions and knowledge of education pathways into engineering are covered in the Engineering Brand Monitor.
