A nationwide celebration of apprenticeships
2 to 6 March 2026
Scottish apprenticeships are made for business, people and Scotland’s economy. They help unlock today's critical economic opportunities, providing employers with the skills to meet their needs now and for the future.
Run by Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Apprenticeship Week highlights how apprenticeships create a competitive and capable workforce for Scotland. It's also the perfect opportunity to shout about the benefits that work-based learning brings to businesses, people and the economy.
We'll be supporting our wonderful Corporate Members to showcase Scottish apprentice stories and experiences.
Things to think about
- Scotland makes up 8% of the UK’s engineering and technology workforce
- jobs in environment, energy and earth sciences are common
- young people aged 16 and over can consider Modern Apprenticeships in engineering and technology sectors
- 36% of young people prefer a technical or vocational route into engineering and tech careers
Thinking of taking part?
Scottish Apprenticeship Week is great for:
- encouraging young people to think about their future by hosting an assembly at a local school, or an introduction to apprenticeships at your office
- using your apprentices (as well as professionals in your organisation who took an apprenticeship) to inspire young people
- showcasing the various apprenticeships available in your organisation to your local audiences
- inviting your current or former apprentices to speak to students at a local school
- using our careers resources to talk about apprenticeships in engineering and tech when visiting young people
Resources to help your outreach

Showcasing all the routes in
Apprenticeships, T Levels, degree apprenticeships… it can be hard for young people to navigate the many technical routes into engineering. Use our all routes into engineering booklet in your outreach and support young people to find a path that’s right for them.
Mapping next steps
Make the process of choosing next steps easier for young people with our map specifically for students in Scotland. It details all the possible routes into an engineering and tech careers, through education and training in Scotland.
