Introducing the Institute for Systems Engineering

On 17 February 2026, at Saddlers’ Hall in London, the formal launch of IfSE took place. Leaders of the UK's engineering community celebrated as the new Professional Engineering Institution launched officially.

The Engineering Council CEO, Paul Bailey, formally presented IfSE with its first Engineering Council License Certificate under their new name. This license allows IfSE to assess candidates for inclusion in the national register of professional engineers and technicians.

Andrew Pemberton said, “This evening has been an excellent opportunity to highlight the importance of systems engineering within the UK engineering community, and we look forward to working with our fellow PEIs, UK educational establishments and industry.”

The Institute for Systems Engineering (IfSE) changed its name from INCOSE UK last summer. It was the first international chapter of the Council on Systems Engineering, and started in 1994.
