Date published: 15 April 2026

Volunteer and inspire more than 20,000 young people

EngineeringUK is calling on STEM professionals to volunteer at The Big Bang Fair 2026, which returns to the NEC from 9 to 11 June.

The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest free STEM event for young people and schools, welcoming more than 20,000 schoolchildren each year.

Volunteers play a vital role in delivering the Fair, supporting young people to explore future careers in engineering and technology and helping them to see themselves represented in the STEM workforce.

Around 200 volunteers are needed across the 3‑day event. Roles include welcoming schools, supporting hands‑on activities and acting as visible, relatable role models for diverse young audiences.

Volunteering at The Big Bang Fair offers STEM professionals the opportunity to share their enthusiasm, connect with like‑minded people and make a meaningful contribution. Volunteers can commit as little as 1 day, with full training and support provided.

The deadline to apply to volunteer is 8 May 2026.
