Quality standards update
Our latest Neon quality standard encourages providers to include a follow-on activity for teachers to use a few weeks after the initial session.
This simple addition helps young people reflect on what they’ve learned, deepening their understanding and making your activity even more impactful.
The latest standard
Our most recent Neon standard is:
"Support teachers in enabling young people to reflect on the content of the Neon activity they have taken part in after the activity"

Templates and resources
Here are some templates for reflection activities. These can be adapted to suite your needs:
Useful links to use in your activity to deepen understanding
We've got some ready-made activities that encourage reflection. You can add these to your own activities for schools and teachers to use as follow-on ideas. Do also share with teachers after delivery.
Meet the future you quiz
Teachers use this quiz with their students, then students feedback on which of the ‘Jobs include’ most appeals to them and why.
Science Museum Group classroom resources
Pick the resource or resources that link to your activity and share it with the teacher. They have helpful guides for teachers to show how they can be used.
STEM Learning's STEM clubs resources
Choose the resource or resources that align with your activity and share it with the teacher.
Royal Academy of Engineering – Engineering Habits of Mind quiz
Share the link. Teachers can do this with their students, then students feedback on the following:
what their strengths are
if anything surprised them
how they use those skills in everyday life
what they could do to strengthen any skill
Free potential competitions to enter
Finally, teachers may be keen to explore competitions as a next step with their students. These competitions can be extra-curricular activities too.
Evaluation
Programme evaluation helps EngineeringUK, our partners and providers shape more effective outreach to maximise the impact on young people's perceptions of engineering.
