Why do we need to collect your information?

EngineeringUK is the working name of The Engineering and Technology Board, a company limited by guarantee. Registered in England No. 4322409, Registered Charity No.1089678. EngineeringUK is a not for profit organisation, which works in partnership with the engineering community to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and increase the talent pipeline into engineering.

We regularly evaluate our Tomorrows Engineers and Big Bang programmes to consider ways in which we might be able to improve them. The Big Bang UK Fair is managed through our subsidiary company Big Bang Education CIC. Our Big Bang Near Me and Big Bang @School programmes are managed via our regional delivery partners.

Through these evaluations we collect certain personal information to enable us to assess our impact and target our programmes to ensure that all young people have equal opportunities to experience our engineering-inspiration activities.

What will you do with the information about me?

All the information you provide will be collected and held confidentially by Big Bang Education CIC and/or its parent company EngineeringUK, and on occasion a third-party research agency, in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct.

Please note that EngineeringUK and/or Big Bang Education CIC and on occasion third party research agencies will have access to the information you provide in our evaluations, including any personal or sensitive information you give, such as your gender, ethnicity, the name of your school and email address. You can choose whether you answer these questions when you get to them – and you can still complete this survey even if you don’t want to provide this information.

At no point will the information you provide be analysed or reported in a way that would personally identify you.

The reason we collect your personal contact details is to enable us to carry out follow up evaluations to assess the impact of our programmes, or for teachers, to administer prize draws.

Can I see my answers, or ask for them to be changed or deleted, after I complete the survey?

You have the right to see and/or change the answers you have given us following completion of the survey (but please note, we cannot accommodate this request If the response was anonymous as we have no way to track it). You can also ask for them to be deleted.

How long will we have your personal data for?

EngineeringUK and/or Big Bang Education CIC and/or our third party research agencies will only keep the personal information you provide for one year, starting from the date you were surveyed or interviewed. After this, all personal data will be deleted, and our third party research agency and/or Big Bang Education CIC and/or EngineeringUK will keep a file containing only anonymous answers or deleted

I’ve decided I don’t want anyone to see my answers now, what shall I do?

That is no problem. Please email us at [email protected] as soon as you can, if you would like your answers not to be viewed. They will then get in contact with you to let you know that your answers have been erased. (Please note that it is not possible to erase answers that have been provided anonymously.)

I made a mistake and want to change some of the information I gave. How can I do that?

Again, that is no problem. Please email us at [email protected] within the next seven days, and tell us what changes you wish to make to your answers. We will then get in contact with you to let you know that your answers have been changed as you asked. Please note that data will be processed within seven days’ time, and changes will need to be made before this period. (Please note that it is not possible to erase answers that have been provided anonymously.)

I want to see my answers. Can I have another look?

Yes you can! If you want to see your answers please email us at [email protected]. You will receive your answers within one month of making the request. This will come to you in an excel file via email. (Please note that it is not possible for you to view answers that have been provided anonymously.)
